About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Veterinary Nurse to lead a dedicated and talented nursing team at a modern, purpose-built practice in South London. This is a leadership role ideal for a confident, motivated RVN who enjoys mentoring others, driving clinical standards, and helping a team deliver exceptional patient and client care every day.
You’ll work an average of 40 hours per week across four days, including participation in a duty night rota. The position offers the chance to take an active role in shaping the clinical and professional development of your nursing team — including RVNs, students, and VCAs.
About the Practice
The practice is a well-established, purpose-built small animal surgery equipped with excellent facilities and a supportive, multidisciplinary team. You’ll be joining a 6-vet team, including certificate holders and vets currently pursuing postgraduate qualifications in Emergency & Critical Care and Surgery.
The team prides itself on a friendly, collaborative environment with a strong focus on professional growth. The nursing team is experienced, cohesive, and well-supported by a capable reception team of five, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and outstanding client service.
Who We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from experienced, enthusiastic RVNs who:
-
Have solid clinical knowledge and confidence in all areas of nursing
-
Are approachable, organised, and passionate about leadership
-
Thrive in a team-focused environment
-
Want to make a real difference in patient care and team development
Work Culture & Development
The practice places a strong emphasis on continuous professional development (CPD) for all team members, encouraging further education and certificate study. Leadership training and structured support are also provided to help you thrive in your role as Head Nurse.
