Lead inpatient care • 24/7 hospital • Real work-life balance

If you love inpatient and ECC nursing, but want it done properly

If you are an experienced RVN who genuinely enjoys seeing patients through their entire journey, not just stabilising and handing over, this could be the role that finally feels right.

This is for nurses who take pride in gold-standard inpatient care, who like ownership of cases, and who want to work somewhere their clinical judgement is trusted.

The Opportunity

We are working with a large, purpose-built 24/7 veterinary hospital in Ellesmere Port, that has built its service around one simple principle: no pet should go untreated when there is a viable option.

This hospital delivers both first opinion and referral-level care under one roof, with a dedicated inpatient team that plays a central role in patient outcomes. They are not looking to “fill a rota”. They are looking for an experienced RVN who wants to lead inpatient care and be a constant, reassuring presence for complex medical and surgical patients.

You will spend two weeks out of every three focused purely on inpatient and ECC nursing, leading care across wards, coordinating treatments, monitoring progress, and advocating for patients. To keep variety and balance, the third week is spent on the GP side, rotating through theatre and consults.

Why This Role Is Different

Inpatient care where nurses truly lead

You will take responsibility for inpatient standards, working alongside experienced vets and RVNs, who value structured nursing plans, continuity, and attention to detail. This is not box-ticking nursing. Your clinical skills genuinely shape outcomes.

A caseload that keeps you engaged

You will manage a wide range of medical and surgical inpatients, from complex ECC cases, to post-operative recoveries. You will be hands-on with:

  • Continuous Rate Infusions (CRIs)
  • Indwelling catheters
  • Advanced monitoring and nursing care for high-dependency patients

Variety without losing your focus

The rota is designed to give depth without burnout. Two weeks immersed in inpatient and ECC care, followed by a GP week that keeps your wider skills sharp through theatre and consults.

A values-led, non-profit model

This hospital operates as a Community Interest Company. Decisions are made around patient care and sustainability, not profit targets. Free consultations and transparent pricing remove barriers to treatment and allow the clinical team to focus on what matters.

Your Journey Here

In your first month
You will settle into the inpatient team, learn hospital protocols, and build confidence with the systems and caseload, supported by experienced colleagues who want you to succeed.

By three months
You will be confidently leading inpatient shifts, managing complex cases, and acting as a point of reference for patient care and nursing standards.

By six months
You will be a key part of the inpatient service, trusted for your judgement, contributing ideas, and potentially shaping how inpatient and ECC nursing continues to develop.
