5 on 5 off rota. ECC focus. A genuine mission to make care accessible.

If You Love ECC but Need It to Mean Something

If you thrive in emergency and critical care but want to know your night shifts are part of something bigger, this could be the role that finally aligns your skills with your values.

The Opportunity

We are working with a well established veterinary hospital in Ellesmere Port, that has built its entire model around one simple belief: no pet should go untreated if there is a viable option available.

This is not a profit first organisation. It operates as a Community Interest Company, reinvesting into clinical care and access rather than shareholders. Free consultations and transparent pricing are central to how they remove barriers for clients who might otherwise struggle to afford treatment.

They are now looking for a Night Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their inpatient and ECC team. This is not about filling a gap on a rota. It is about finding someone who is confident in emergency settings, calm under pressure, and motivated by making high quality care accessible to more people.

You will care for inpatients overnight, assist in theatre, triage emergency admissions, and support critical procedures. You will be trusted to use your judgement, not simply follow instructions.

Why This Role Is Different

Proper ECC Exposure

You will be hands on with triaging cases, monitoring critical inpatients, and assisting in emergency surgery. This is genuine emergency and critical care nursing, not just ward cover.

No Hierarchy Culture

The structure is deliberately flat. Nurses and vets work collaboratively, and your input matters. The environment is inclusive, supportive, and built around shared responsibility for clinical excellence.

A Sustainable Night Pattern

A 5 on, 5 off rota, averaging 42 hours per week, with shifts from 18:30 to 07:30. You work hard when you are in, and you properly switch off when you are out.

Your Journey Here

In Your First Month
You will focus on settling into the night team, understanding inpatient protocols, and building confidence with the hospital’s emergency workflows.

By Three Months
You will be confidently triaging admissions, managing critical patients overnight, assisting in theatre, and contributing to smooth handovers with the day team.

By Six Months
You will be a trusted night nurse, taking ownership of complex inpatients, mentoring less experienced colleagues where needed, and potentially mapping out a certificate pathway with funded CPD.
