7 nights on, 14 nights off. ECC and inpatient focus

If you love ECC but need recovery time that actually feels like recovery…

Night work in emergency and critical care is not for the faint hearted. It is intense. Emotional. Clinically demanding. And when it is done well, it is deeply rewarding.

If you are an RVN who thrives in that environment but also needs proper time to reset, this might be the balance you have been looking for.

The Opportunity

We are working with a not for profit veterinary organisation in Ellesmere Port, that has built its entire model around one powerful belief: no pet should go untreated when there is a viable option.

This is a purpose driven hospital environment where emergency and inpatient care sits at the heart of what they do. As a Night RVN, you will be central to that mission. You will care for inpatients through the night, assist in theatre, triage emergencies and support urgent procedures. It is hands on, meaningful nursing where your judgement and calm under pressure truly matter.

The culture is refreshingly flat. There is no hierarchy for hierarchy’s sake. Nurses are listened to. Ideas are welcomed. The team works collectively towards accessible, affordable care without compromising clinical standards.

Why This Role Is Different

True emergency and inpatient focus

You will be nursing critical patients overnight, supporting emergency procedures and triaging cases as they arrive. This is not routine GP spill over. It is dedicated ECC and inpatient care where your skills are fully utilised.

A culture without ego

The team operates without rigid hierarchy. Collaboration is expected. Everyone contributes to clinical excellence, regardless of job title. For many nurses, that sense of shared purpose is what keeps them here.

Your Journey Here

In Your First Month
You will focus on settling into the night team rhythm, understanding protocols and getting to know the inpatient caseload. Support will be there as you familiarise yourself with equipment and emergency workflows.

By Three Months
You will be confidently triaging cases, managing inpatients overnight and assisting in emergency procedures with autonomy. You will begin identifying areas of clinical interest and discussing CPD pathways.

By Six Months
You will be a trusted member of the night team, contributing to case discussions and shaping nursing standards. If a certificate is on your radar, your funded CPD pathway can be clearly mapped out.
