Part-time nights. Advanced referral medicine. A genuinely supportive team.
When night work should finally feel rewarding
If you are a Night RVN who loves the quieter focus of nights, but wants to feel properly supported, clinically challenged, and valued for your expertise, this role may be exactly what you have been missing.
The Opportunity
We are working with a leading small animal veterinary referral hospital in Winchester, that has built an outstanding reputation for clinical excellence and for looking after its people, not just its patients.
This is a part-time, permanent Night RVN role, designed for nurses who want to use their full skill set in a calm, well-structured overnight environment. You will be a vital part of the hospital’s 24 hour care, ensuring patients are comfortable, stable, and supported through some of the most critical stages of their recovery.
You will join a close-knit and highly experienced night nursing team, backed by a strong PCA team and supported by specialist clinicians who value nursing input and trust your judgement.
Why This Role Is Different
Advanced, meaningful nursing work
This is not basic overnight monitoring. You will nurse a wide range of referral cases, including orthopaedics, neurology, oncology, internal medicine, and post-operative critical care. Your skills in pain management, wound care, drains, catheters, physiotherapy, specialised diets, and patient wellbeing will be used every shift.
Proper support at night
You will work alongside an established night team, with access to clinicians, anaesthetists, twilight teams, and day nurses. You are never left feeling isolated or unsupported.
Structured, predictable rota
Your hours are clearly defined:
- Thursday and Friday nights
- 1 in 3 Wednesday nights
- 1 in 3 Saturday nights
- Bank Holiday rotation
This structure allows you to plan your life, rest properly, and avoid the burnout that often comes with poorly managed night rotas.
A hospital that invests in its people
This is a practice that actively supports learning, progression, and long-term careers. Many clinicians are nationally or internationally recognised specialists, and they enjoy teaching and working closely with nurses.
Your Journey Here
In your first month, you will settle into the night routine, build strong relationships with the nursing and PCA teams, and become familiar with the wards, protocols, and referral caseload.
By three months, you will be confidently managing complex overnight patients, liaising closely with clinicians, and fully embedded as a trusted member of the night nursing team.
By six months, you will be a key contributor to patient care standards overnight, with opportunities to pursue CPD aligned to your interests and to further develop specialist nursing skills.
