A genuinely supportive team. Varied clinical work. Real investment in you.

If you want to feel valued, supported, and excited about nursing again

If you are an RVN who loves hands-on nursing but wants to feel properly supported, listened to, and encouraged to grow, this could be the role you have been hoping to find. Especially if you enjoy variety, teamwork, and being trusted to use your skills fully.

The Opportunity

We are working with a well-established small animal practice in Barnsley that has built something special over the years. A close-knit, friendly team that genuinely enjoys working together, delivers high standards of clinical care, and still keeps its feet firmly on the ground.

They are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join them on a full-time basis, although part-time applications are very welcome. This is not about filling a gap. It is about welcoming someone who wants to be part of a supportive nursing team, get involved in interesting cases, and continue developing professionally.

You will be working across a varied caseload, supporting everything from routine consults to more complex cases, including exotics, dentistry, and behaviour work. Communication and teamwork are central here, and nurses are actively encouraged to contribute ideas and pursue their interests.

Why This Role Is Different

A team that genuinely supports each other

This is a friendly, established team with a strong nursing presence and excellent support from reception and clinical colleagues. Students are mentored properly, and many have stayed on permanently once qualified, which says a lot about the culture.

Interesting, varied clinical work

You will not be stuck doing the same thing every day. The caseload includes exotic pets, dentistry, and behaviour cases, supported by an in-house RVN and Pet Behaviourist. There is real scope to build skills and confidence across different areas of nursing.

Continuous learning, not box-ticking CPD

The practice actively identifies skill gaps and supports nurses to develop through ongoing CPD at all levels. Learning is part of everyday life here, not something squeezed in once a year.

A practice rooted in its community

This team has strong links with the local area through events, fundraising, and education. The practice has a welcoming, neighbourhood feel, and clients genuinely value the care they receive.

Your Journey Here

In your first month, you will be supported as you settle in, get to know the team, and find your feet with systems, protocols, and the day-to-day flow of the practice.

By three months, you will be confidently managing your nursing duties, supporting a varied caseload, and starting to explore CPD aligned with your interests. You will feel part of the team, not the new person.

By six months, you will be a valued, trusted member of the nursing team, contributing ideas, developing specialist interests if you wish, and helping shape how nursing care continues to evolve in the practice.
