A true 4-day week. Purpose-led care. A role where your nursing skills genuinely matter.
Feeling like you could give more, if the role would let you?
If you are an experienced RVN who wants to use your full skillset, feel valued for your contribution, and know your work genuinely makes a difference, this could be the change you have been looking for.
The Opportunity
We are working with a large, well-equipped 24-hour veterinary hospital in Ellesmere Port, that has been built around a simple but powerful belief. No pet should go without treatment because of cost.
This is not a role created to plug gaps. It exists because the nursing team is central to how this hospital delivers care. You would be joining a service that sees a wide and varied caseload, supported by a dedicated night team, allowing the daytime nursing team to focus on high-quality patient care without burnout.
The hospital is also developing its referral services, meaning the clinical exposure continues to grow. From advanced diagnostics to complex medical and surgical cases, this is a role where your skills will be used, stretched, and respected.
Why This Role Is Different
A hospital environment that supports nursing properly
This is a fully equipped 24-hour hospital with multiple theatres, a dental suite, advanced imaging including CT, and a growing referral service. You are not working around limitations. You are working with the tools you need to do your job well.
Nursing-led contribution, not task-based nursing
You will be encouraged to use your knowledge and judgement, not just tick boxes. This is a setting where nurses are trusted, listened to, and involved in patient care decisions.
A genuine commitment to accessible veterinary care
The organisation operates as a Community Interest Company and is B Corp certified. Profit is not the driver. Sustainability, fairness, and access to care are. Free consultations and transparent pricing allow pets to receive treatment that might otherwise be out of reach.
Structured hours with real recovery time
A 40-hour week across four days, with a 2 in 9 weekend rota and a dedicated night team, means rest days are protected and sustainable long-term working is taken seriously.
Your Journey Here
In your first month, you will focus on settling into the hospital, getting to know the nursing and vet teams, and becoming comfortable with workflows, equipment, and systems.
By three months, you will be confidently managing a varied caseload, contributing your ideas, and starting to shape how you use your nursing strengths day to day.
By six months, you will be a trusted and established member of the team, potentially pursuing funded CPD aligned with your interests and helping support the continued growth of the service.
