No out-of-hours. Flexible hours. Genuine development and stability.

If you want balance without stepping back clinically

If you are an RVN who loves nursing but feels worn down by long days, unpredictable rotas, or roles where growth is talked about but never delivered, this could be the change you have been quietly hoping for.

This role is designed for nurses who want to keep learning, feel trusted, and still have a life outside of work.

The Opportunity

We are working with a long-established small animal practice group in the Hartlepool area, that has built something rare. Stability, continuity, and a team culture where nurses are genuinely encouraged to shape their own roles.

The practice operates across four sites, with a main hub that has served the local community for decades and is now preparing for an exciting relocation and expansion. This is not a practice standing still. Plans include a new main site and the introduction of CT, alongside an already impressive suite of equipment.

They are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse who wants variety, autonomy, and the chance to pass knowledge on to others. Someone who values client relationships, enjoys being part of a close-knit team, and wants their skills to be used properly.

Why This Role Is Different

No out-of-hours, ever

Your time matters. There are no OOH requirements, no Sundays, and no bank holidays. Full-time hours are a four-day week, 8am to 7pm, with flexibility for part-time if that suits your life better.

Proper clinical variety

This is not a one-note nursing role. Your days can include nurse consultations, theatre work, inpatient care, diagnostics, and Schedule 3 procedures if that is something you want to develop.

Investment in nursing progression

Several nurses in the team are actively working towards certificates in areas like medicine, anaesthesia, and surgical nursing. Development is encouraged and supported, not just approved on paper.

Equipment that supports good medicine

Across the sites you will find ultrasound, digital and dental x-ray, endoscopy and laparoscopy, with CT planned for the new main surgery. You are given the tools to do the job well.

Long-standing client relationships

Many clients have been with the practice for years. This is a place where rapport matters, conversations are meaningful, and continuity of care is valued.

Your Journey Here

In your first month, you will focus on settling in, getting to know the team and clients, and becoming comfortable with the systems and workflows across the sites.

By three months, you will be confidently involved in consultations, theatre, and day-to-day nursing, with space to explore areas you are particularly interested in. If coaching students appeals to you, that journey can begin here.

By six months, you will be an established and trusted part of the team, potentially acting as a clinical coach, contributing ideas, and shaping how your role develops as the practice expands.
