24-hour hospital exposure. True clinical variety. A team where nurses genuinely lead from the front.
Feeling ready for more than routine?
If you are an RVN who thrives on variety but feels stuck in repetitive consult rooms or limited clinical exposure, this could be the step up you have been waiting for.
The Opportunity
We are working with a long-established small animal practice in Huntingdon that has quietly built something very special over the past century. With six sites serving a loyal local community, including a fully equipped 24-hour hospital, this is a team that blends heritage with genuinely progressive nursing.
This is not a role where nurses stand on the sidelines. With 4 Lead Nurses, 22 RVNs, 4 SVNs and 5 PCAs, nursing is embedded at the heart of clinical decision-making. They are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with at least a year of post-registration experience who enjoys being busy, values collaboration, and is open to mentoring others as a Clinical Coach.
You will rotate across hospital and branch settings, gaining exposure to everything from client-facing clinics to inpatient care, theatre work and emergency cases. If you enjoy consulting, dedicated clinic days can be built into your rota. If ECC excites you, development is actively encouraged.
Why This Role Is Different
A Caseload That Keeps You Learning
Referral-level equipment including ultrasound, endoscopy, orthopaedic facilities, laparoscopic spay kit and a full imaging suite means you will see far more than routine procedures. From advanced surgical cases to true emergency work, no two weeks look the same.
Structured, Fair Rotas
A 40-hour week worked as either 4 x 10-hour days or 5 x 8-hour days. Shifts fall between 7.30am and 9.30pm. Just 1 weekend day in 4 with time off in lieu, and approximately 4 out-of-hours on-call shifts per year, shared fairly across the team. Bank holidays are rotated equally.
A Team That Stays
High staff retention is not accidental. Regular team events, summer community involvement, charity partnerships, BBQs, bake offs and even pumpkin carving competitions reflect a culture where professionalism and friendliness genuinely coexist.
A Location That Offers Balance
Based in Huntingdon, you are surrounded by green space yet well connected to Cambridge and London. Excellent schools, rich local history and countryside tranquillity make it an easy place to build both career and life.
