The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a friendly, dedicated ophthalmology referral practice in Sutton Weaver, Cheshire. The successful candidate will be part of a large, supportive team of 8 RVNs and 2 Patient Care Assistants, working alongside experienced ophthalmologists and anaesthetists.

The role is focused solely on clinical work — no reception duties — allowing you to concentrate on delivering exceptional nursing care. You’ll rotate through varied areas including prep, theatre, recovery, procedures, and consultations.

While prior ophthalmology experience is not required, experience in a referral setting and familiarity with advanced monitoring equipment (capnography, multiparameter monitors, ventilators) would be advantageous. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care across all areas of the practice

  • Admit and discharge patients, administer perioperative medications

  • Assist with induction and monitoring of anaesthesia

  • Prepare patients for surgery, assist in theatre and during recovery

  • Clean, maintain, and care for surgical instruments

  • Support gold-standard clinical care and uphold patient safety standards
