Genuine 4 day week. No out of hours. Clinical variety with continuity.

If You’re Ready to Enjoy First Opinion Work Again

If you are an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys building relationships with clients and seeing your cases through, but you are tired of relentless out of hours or conveyor belt consults, this could feel like a breath of fresh air.

The Opportunity

We are working with a long established small animal practice in Staffordshire that has quietly built something special over the past 30 years. Across two recently renovated sites, they have created a calm, collaborative environment where high standards of care and genuine team support sit at the heart of everything they do.

They are not looking to simply fill a gap. They are hoping to welcome a confident GP Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys the variety of first opinion work and wants to shape their week around their strengths. The caseload is broad, the client base is loyal, and continuity of care is genuinely valued.

With a structured but flexible rota and no out of hours, you can focus on being the vet you trained to be, without sacrificing your life outside of work.

Why This Role Is Different

A Structured Yet Flexible Clinical Week

You will work a 40 hour week over 4 days, with a fair 1 in 3 Saturday mornings and no out of hours.

A typical week includes:

  • 1 full day of surgery
  • 1 full day of consultations
  • 2 mixed days

If you prefer more surgery or more consult time, the team are open to adapting the balance around your interests.

Modern Facilities That Support Good Medicine

Both sites are light and spacious, recently renovated, and well equipped with:

  • Two theatres at one site, linked by glass
  • Digital radiography
  • Ultrasound
  • Dental radiography
  • In house blood machines and a Vista scanner

Both clinics hold Silver Cat Friendly status, Silver RWAF, Dog Friendly status and Green Investors in the Environment accreditation. High standards are not an afterthought here.

A Team That Values Each Other

You will join a team of 4 experienced Veterinary Surgeons and 1 new graduate, supported by a skilled nursing team, including Schedule 3 trained nurses, and a friendly front of house team.

They actively encourage CPD and further qualifications, and have strong links with other practices in the wider group, allowing shared CPD events and support with more complex cases when needed.

This is a close knit, sociable team who are proud of their culture and genuinely enjoy working together.

A Location That Gives You Options

Based in charming market towns in Staffordshire, you are around 50 minutes from Birmingham and approximately an hour from Birmingham Airport. You can enjoy countryside living with easy access to city life when you want it.

Your Journey Here

In Your First Month
You will focus on settling into both sites, building relationships with the nursing and front of house teams, and getting comfortable with the systems and client base.

By Month Three
You will be confidently managing your own caseload, performing routine surgeries, and shaping your week to reflect your clinical preferences. You may already be exploring CPD that aligns with your long term goals.
