Lead a brand-new, purpose-built clinic. Shape the culture from day one. Spend 80% of your time doing the work you love: clinical care.
When leadership means more than just a title
If you’re an experienced vet who loves clinical work but feels leadership roles often pull you too far away from patients, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
This role is about building something meaningful. A chance to lead a team, shape a culture, and still spend the majority of your time doing what brought you into the profession in the first place.
The Opportunity
We’re working with a forward-thinking veterinary group launching a brand-new, purpose-built clinic in Beckenham. This isn’t a role where you’re stepping into someone else’s system. It’s a rare opportunity to help shape a clinic from the ground up.
They’re looking for a Clinical Director who combines strong clinical standards with thoughtful leadership. Someone who enjoys mentoring others, building a supportive culture, and creating an environment where the whole team can work to the top of their abilities.
You’ll be supported by an experienced wider leadership team, but you’ll also have genuine autonomy to shape the clinic locally. From team culture to clinical standards to business performance, you’ll play a central role in defining what success looks like here.
Why This Role Is Different
Build a Clinic From the Beginning
This is a newly opened, purpose-built clinic, designed with modern veterinary medicine and team wellbeing in mind. You’ll have the rare opportunity to shape the team, systems, and clinical culture from day one.
Leadership That Stays Clinical
Unlike many leadership roles, you’ll spend around 80% of your time in clinical practice, ensuring you remain connected to patient care while guiding the team and maintaining high standards.
A Truly Collaborative Leadership Structure
You’ll work closely with a Practice Director and Nursing Director, forming a leadership trio responsible for clinical quality, team development, and business performance.
Clinical Standards That Matter
The clinic places strong emphasis on evidence-based medicine, clinical governance, and regular clinical audits. You’ll help drive CPD, support colleagues in developing their interests, and ensure the team consistently delivers excellent care.
A Culture Built Around Wellbeing
Leadership here isn’t just about performance. You’ll actively help create a respectful, open, and inclusive environment, where team wellbeing is taken seriously and issues are addressed early and constructively.
Your Journey Here
In Your First Month
You’ll focus on settling into the new clinic, getting to know your team, and understanding the systems and processes already in place. You’ll begin establishing clinical standards and building strong working relationships with the Practice Director and Nursing Director.
By Month Three
You’ll be confidently leading clinical delivery while maintaining a strong presence on the floor. You’ll begin shaping clinic strategy, supporting team development through regular conversations, and contributing to membership growth and client experience initiatives.
By Month Six
You’ll be fully established as the clinical leader of the practice. The team will look to you for guidance on clinical standards, education, and quality improvement, while you continue helping shape the clinic’s growth and long-term direction.
