Purpose-built hospital. No out-of-hours. Real clinical support and room to grow.
Looking for more than just another vet role?
If you want to do good medicine without feeling stretched in every direction, this could be the change you have been waiting for. This role offers the chance to join a genuinely well-supported hospital team, with the facilities, structure, and breathing space to help you enjoy practice again.
The Opportunity
We’re working with a large, purpose-built small animal hospital in Kettering, that has created an environment where vets can develop properly, not just keep up. With a team of more than 80 people across the wider practice group, this is the kind of place where support is always close by, whether you are newly through VetGDP or already building confidence in a particular clinical area.
The hospital itself is brand new and designed by vets, for vets. That shows in the day-to-day experience. You will have access to the tools and space needed to work cases up thoroughly, follow them through, and make sound clinical decisions with confidence. This is not a role where you are expected to rush from task to task without continuity. It is a role where your clinical judgement will be valued.
They are open to both full-time and part-time applicants, and equally open to shaping hours around the right person. Whether you are looking to consolidate your foundations or explore where your interests could take you next, this team wants to help you build a career that feels sustainable.
Why This Role Is Different
A hospital built for modern practice
You will be working in a 24-hour, purpose-designed veterinary hospital with CT, digital X-ray, endoscopy, laparoscopy, ultrasound, sterile theatre, and piped gas already in place. The investment here is real, and it gives you the platform to do thorough workups and high-quality patient care.
Support that goes beyond words
This is a team of 80+ colleagues across the wider practice, with a notably strong nursing team and a culture of internal development. Many team members have progressed from trainee and support roles into long-term careers here, which says a lot about the stability and encouragement on offer.
Work-life balance that holds up in reality
There are no out-of-hours duties, thanks to a dedicated OOH team. The weekend commitment is a manageable 1 in 8 day rota, plus 1 in 8 short shift, with time off in lieu for weekend work. For many vets, that is the difference between coping and actually enjoying life outside work.
A lifestyle location with real convenience
Kettering gives you access to market-town character, strong local schools, green space, and fast rail links. With London and Birmingham both under an hour away by train, you get everyday affordability with easy access to city life when you want it.
Your Journey Here
In your first month
You will settle into the team, get to know the hospital systems, and build confidence with the support around you. There will be space to learn how the team works and start following cases with continuity.
In your first 3 months
You will be contributing more independently, making full use of the hospital’s facilities, and starting to shape your caseload around your strengths and interests. If you are newer in your career, this is where your confidence should really begin to grow.
In your first 6 months
You will feel like an established part of the clinical team, with clearer direction around your development and a stronger sense of what you want your next chapter to look like. Whether that is broad GP confidence or a growing clinical niche, the support is there.
