Branch-based role. Genuine clinical variety. Real support from an experienced hospital team.

If You’re Looking for a Role Where You Can Truly Settle In

If you are happiest when you can build continuity with clients, feel part of a close team, and still have the backing of a larger clinical network, this could be the kind of move that gives you both challenge and stability.

The Opportunity

We are working with a well-established small animal hospital group in Dudley, that offers something many vets say they want, but do not often find: the chance to make a branch feel like home, while still having the support, equipment, and expertise of a sizeable 24-hour hospital behind you.

This role would suit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is confident across consults, routine surgery, and dentistry, and who enjoys the rhythm of first opinion practice. You will be based in branch work, supported day-to-day by a dedicated reception team, RVN, and PCA, with easy access to a wider clinical team when you need a second opinion or want to develop a particular area of interest.

It is a strong fit for someone who values being part of a friendly, capable team, wants to deliver consistently high standards of care, and would enjoy working in a practice where development is actively encouraged rather than just talked about.

Why This Role Is Different

Backing of a true 24-hour hospital

This is not a stand-alone branch operating in isolation. You would be supported by a 19-vet team, including 7 certificate holders across areas such as cardiology, dermatology, medicine, ophthalmology, and soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery. There is also a dedicated night team on site, so out-of-hours care is fully covered.

Equipment that genuinely expands what you can do

The hospital setup includes CT, a dental suite, 12 operating theatres, digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and a full in-house laboratory. For a first opinion vet, that means better diagnostics, smoother workflows, and more opportunity to work cases up properly. Dental training is also available for those wanting to build confidence further.

A place where people grow

This team has a strong record of helping vets progress, from early career development through to certificate study, branch leadership, and director-level roles. Whether you want to sharpen your existing strengths or explore a new clinical direction, there is both caseload and support to help you do it.

Workload with some breathing room

The last weekday appointment is 6.30pm, weekend work is shared fairly, and time back in lieu is built in. There is also a spacious break room, which may sound like a small thing, but usually says a lot about whether a team is expected to simply get through the day or actually enjoy being there.

Your Journey Here

In your first month, you will get to know the branch team, settle into the rota, and build confidence in how cases flow between branch and hospital support.

By three months, you should feel fully at home in consults and routine procedures, with the wider team around you for collaboration, case discussion, and clinical development.

By six months, you will likely be an established part of the branch, building strong client relationships, contributing to clinical standards, and potentially starting to shape your next area of growth, whether that is dentistry, surgery, medicine, or further study.
