About the Role

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to take on a Lead Vet position within a thriving small animal practice in Melton Mowbray.

As the practice prepares to move into a brand-new, purpose-built hospital (opening in 2026), the Lead Vet will play a pivotal role in shaping the next chapter of the clinic’s journey – supporting both clinical excellence and team growth.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Overseeing day-to-day clinical and operational activity

  • Providing mentorship and support to the wider veterinary team, including new graduates

  • Leading by example, driving best-practice veterinary care

  • Supporting the smooth transition into the new hospital facility

  • Collaborating with the senior leadership team to develop the practice strategically

Due to PSS Hospital status requirements, applicants must hold a postgraduate certificate, ideally with a medicine or imaging bias. Previous leadership experience is essential.

About You

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A confident and proactive leader, capable of inspiring and developing a high-performing team

  • A certificate holder, passionate about maintaining the highest standards of care

  • Experienced in clinical decision-making, diagnostics, and case management

  • A team player with excellent communication skills and a calm, collaborative approach

  • Organised, empathetic, and able to balance leadership with hands-on clinical work

About the Practice

The practice has a well-established client base and a stable, skilled clinical team, supported by strong nursing, administrative, and management structures. You’ll be joining an environment that encourages growth, clinical freedom, and collaboration.

The upcoming state-of-the-art hospital will feature advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities, including CT imaging, offering an exciting opportunity to help shape and lead the delivery of gold-standard veterinary care.

Work-Life Balance
