No OOH | 3 or 4 Day Week | Genuinely Supportive Team

Tired of spinning plates without feeling part of something?

If you are an experienced small animal vet who enjoys proper case continuity, a close knit team and a rota that respects your life outside of work, this could be the steady, supportive role you have been looking for.

The Opportunity

We are working with a well established, 100 percent small animal practice in Batchley, Worcestershire that has built its reputation on teamwork, trust and clinical standards that never slip. This is not a revolving door clinic. It is a settled, collaborative environment where people genuinely enjoy working together.

You would be joining a team of 4 full time equivalent vets, 6 RVNs, 4 receptionists and a dedicated practice manager. They are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is confident in general practice and comfortable with occasional sole charge, but who also values being part of a warm, cohesive team.

This is a permanent role for 30 to 37 hours per week, spread across 3 or 4 days, with a 1 in 4 Saturday morning rota from 9am to 2pm. There is no out of hours and no bank holiday work. The focus here is sustainable practice, not burnout.

Why This Role Is Different

A Team That Actually Works Together

With 4 vets and 6 RVNs working collaboratively across consults and theatre, this is a genuinely integrated setup. You will also help support and mentor vet students when they are on site, reinforcing a culture of learning and shared responsibility.

Varied, Meaningful Clinical Work

Your week will include a balanced mix of consultations and surgical procedures. You will have the clinical freedom to work up your own cases properly, while knowing experienced colleagues are there if you want to talk something through.

Stability and Professional Standards

The practice is RCVS Practice Standards Scheme registered and part of a respected wider veterinary group, offering both local autonomy and the backing of a larger network.

A Location That Gives You Options

Based in Batchley, Worcestershire, you are within easy reach of Birmingham, around 15 miles away, while still having access to beautiful countryside. Shops and everyday amenities are close by, making day to day life straightforward and convenient.

Your Journey Here

In Your First Month
You will focus on settling into the rota, getting to know the client base and understanding how the team likes to communicate. You will start building trust with nurses and reception, which is central to how this practice runs smoothly.

By Three Months
You will be confidently managing your own consult blocks and surgical lists, including some sole charge shifts. You will likely begin mentoring students and exploring CPD options that align with your interests.

By Six Months
You will be a key part of the clinical team, contributing ideas, maintaining high standards of care and potentially making use of visiting peripatetic surgeons for mentoring in areas you want to develop further.
