A genuine 4 day week. Purpose led care. Complex, rewarding caseloads.

If you want your work to truly matter again

If you are a Veterinary Surgeon who wants to spend your days helping genuinely sick and injured pets, without the pressure of upselling or cutting corners, this could be the role that brings purpose back into your week.

The Opportunity

We are working with a well established, community focused veterinary clinic in Birkenhead, that has built its reputation on one simple belief: high quality care should be accessible, ethical, and delivered with compassion.

This is a role for a Veterinary Surgeon with 2 years’ experience or more who wants to practise proper medicine. The caseload is varied and meaningful, with a strong emphasis on medical and surgical cases that require thought, collaboration, and continuity of care.

You will be joining a team that operates without hierarchy. Decisions are shared, voices are heard, and clinical standards come before targets. It is a place where people stay because the work feels worthwhile.

Why This Role Is Different

Purpose before profit

This clinic operates as a Community Interest Company, which means success is measured by patient outcomes and sustainability, not shareholder returns. The focus is on doing the right thing, every time.

Facilities that support great medicine

You will be working in a purpose built clinic with:

  • 7 consulting rooms
  • Two fully equipped theatres
  • On site X-ray suite
  • Separate dog and cat wards in a recognised cat friendly environment
  • Scope to expand into advanced services such as cardiac scanning

A caseload that keeps you learning

Cases range from complex orthopaedics, to challenging medical work, offering daily opportunities to develop your clinical confidence and expand your skill set.

A culture built on trust and respect

There is no rigid hierarchy here. Vets, nurses, and support staff work as equals, supporting one another to deliver consistent, high quality care in a calm, respectful environment.

Your Journey Here

In your first month, you will focus on settling in, building relationships with the team, and getting comfortable with the systems and facilities, with support always available when you need it.

By three months, you will be confidently managing your own caseload, contributing to clinical discussions, and identifying areas of interest for further development or CPD.

By six months, you will be a trusted member of the team, shaping clinical standards, potentially working towards a funded certificate, and helping to develop services that genuinely benefit the local community.
